Game Preview: Barrie Colts vs North Bay Battalion. #OHL

Tonight the Barrie Colts (6-2-0-1) host the North Bay Battalion (3-2-2-0) for the third of six meetings this regular season. Both teams have won a game each with North bay taking the first game with a 5-2 win at North Bay Gardens; and Barrie winning the last meeting 3-1 at BMC.

The Battalion head into BMC tonight riding a 4 game losing streak. The team currently sits in 3rd place in the Central Division. North Bay lost its last meeting on Thursday night at home in a 4-3 OT loss to the Ottawa 67's. Both teams exchanged goals all night but it would me Ottawa's Mathieu Foget who started the scoring, getting OT game winner just 25 seconds into the extra frame. North Bay had a lot of great chances on the power play but were able to only go 1 for 7 with the man advantage. They even were able to out-shoot Ottawa 30-22, while winning 40 of 65 face-offs but it wouldn't be enough to get the win.

The Ponies come into tonight riding a 2 game winning streak which includes a win over Saginaw and over Erie this past Thursday. The Colts beat Erie 7-5 which was their first win over the Otters in more than 5 years. Barrie took a 4-0 lead at one point but Erie battled back to make it a game. Ultimately, a 4 point night for Andrei Svechnikov and a solid night for Leo Lazarev would lead the Colts to the victory. Alexey Lipanov and Lucas Chiodo both would finish the night off with 1 goal and 2 assists each.

Barrie is 4-0-0-1 at home this season while North Bay has won 1 game on the road.

Christian Propp could get the start tonight; however, with Lazarev having a night off since the last game, and also getting the win last time the Colts played the Troops, he could get the start.

Obvious take here, but look for Andrei Svechnikov to have a strong night. The Russian rookie already leads the league in goals with 10 and is tied for most points with 14.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 tonight at BMC.
