The first meeting saw Barrie dominate in a 6-1 victory on November, 11th. Jason Willms would finish the game with a hat-trick, while Joey Keane ended his day with a goal and an assist. Leo Lazarev got the start that game and made 26 saves. Barrie found success on special teams which was a huge reason for their victory, going 2 for 5 on the power-play; while killing off all 4 penalty-kills.
Barrie needs to anticipate a much different Niagara team than they met in the previous meeting. Last game, the IceDogs were riding a 6 game losing streak. Tonight, they enter the match-up with a 7-2-0-1 record in their last 10 games which is one of the best records league wide. They only trail the Colts by 4 points in the Central Divsion with a game in hand.
Niagara is coming off a 6-3 loss last night VS the North Bay Battalion. Patrick Brown scored early for the Troops but Johnny Corneil would tie things up with his 7th goal of the season. Ultimately, Niagara would lose because of a poor night on the penalty kill. The Troops went 3 for 4 on the the man-advantage, including the game winning goal by Cam Dineen early in the 1st period. Stephen Dhillon got the start for the IceDogs but was pulled early in the 3rd period after allowing 5 goals on 25 shots.
Barrie pulled off a comeback win against the Otters in Erie last night after trailing 3-0 through the midway point of the game. Recently acquired Aaron Luckuk scored to cut into the lead with his league leading 30th goal of the season. Jaden Peca and TJ Fergus (4th goal of the season for both players) both scored quick goals to tie the game 3-3. It would be Aidan Brown who scored the game winner to complete the comeback win. Browns goal was his 1st of the season. Barrie went 2 for 6 on the man-advantage, while killing off 3 penalty-kills. Kai Edmonds got the start and finished the game with 23 saves in his 4th win of the season.
Barrie is 9-5-2-0 on the road while, Niagara is 8-4-1-1 at home.
Expect for Leo Lazarev to get the start tonight. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm tonight at the Meridian Centre.
